I was told that this climate might scare off Assyrians from attending the debate...afraid of standing out at a time like this. When AREN'T we afraid? When things are calm and peaceful, and America would welcome a sign from us that we exist, we are afraid to ruffle each other's feathers and keep quiet, even cheering that "I" was kicked in the ass at the convention, or that Chicago wasn't interested in the monument and we should just melt it...looks like someone "melted" a church for us instead.
When times get hot, we're also afraid to do anything about this heritage for fear of backlash etc. When do modern Assyrians show courage? ONLY when they pick on someone anonymousely?
If few people show up we'll turn it into a debate about American Global Imperialism and how it too will backfire for the citizens while enriching the rich some more.
