actually, i like the locals here. it's just that you have to keep an eye out for the few bad uns. for instance, after playing Celtic/folk fiddle for a gig at a local pub at my undergrad for St. Patrick's Day, the bar owner asked me where my last name was from when he was writing out my check. i took one look at the framed picture of David Duke on the wall, flanked with Confederate flags on both sides & a rifle above the picture, & told him my last name was French. i then proceded to get the hell out of there & to never accept a gig with that pub again. my parents get such a kick out of this story...
