Dear Lulia,
Being Assyrian, or... "Neo-Assyrian" is a state of mind. If there's anything that I've learned from this forum, that is it. As David Chibo says: "Assyria is a VERB, not a noun".

He was Australian for many years.. not knowing a thing about his heritage, but that all changed. The same can be said for Fred, for myself... for a lot of people who decided that they were just going to assimilate and be 'American' or 'Australian'... but we realized something... which made us all change our minds.

You don't need Assyrian parents to be Assyrian... you don't need to marry an Assyrian to have Assyrian children... I know Chaldeans who are "1/2" or "1/4"... or even "3/4" Chaldean who are more Chaldean than "full bred 100%" Chaldeans... if that made any sense. I'm trying to say that you don't need to prove anything here. Take your parents definition of "Assyria" and throw it out the window.

My parents are divorced. My mother remarried, to a non-Chaldean person, so I have a half sister who is... what you might call "Half-Chaldean, Half-American"... she learned Chaldean, Arabic, and English from being with my grandmother often. If she chooses, she can be the best damn Chaldean, Arab, or just another mindless American if she wants to be. It's a state of mind... that's all I'm saying.

Now, why do you post here? I think that I know why Fred posts here, but I'll leave that up to you to figure out. I think that you post here because, through your writing, you want Fred to do "something"... you want to, through your dialogue with Fred, "CHANGE" Fred. All I can say is... good luck.
