: Fred, you brought up excellent points.

: One thing I would like to comment on:

: If you are really and truly proud of the source and fountainhead of these other religions...it doesn't seem to me you would abandon the religion and culture that inspired imitation and innovation.

: That's kinda assuming that the abandonment of Ashur took place immediately prior to, and because of, Christianity.

: The historical fact is that Abgar didn't worship Ashur. He didn't switch from Ashur to Christianity....our temples and priesthood were destroyed centuries before Meshikha appeared on the scene.

: Anyway, the more and more I've read of your reasonable arguments over the years has convinced me to begin studying and appreciating our ancient religion.

: But I say let's give ourselves credit for these other three, too. Let's cherish all of Mesopotamian contribution to civilization.....the roots and the branches.

: Paul

+++ Says it all: "let's give ourselves credit "

+++ For the most primitive of motives: greed for pride, mostly undeserved.
Celebrate, parade and flash yourselves!
Every truely miserable creature feels compelled to do so in order to compensate for its shortcomings and failure.
Collective herdish narcism:
Stupid, lazy, self-aggrandizing and arrogant.
What a rotten culture!

+++ And all this despite of the fact you even don't know the ancient Mespotamian cultures, their religions and not even Christianity:
Otherwise you wouldn't try to sell just as a slimy Bazaari Christianity to Punch like sour beer only on the idiotic argument that "it was given birth by Mesopotamia" and because of "Assyrian blood".

+++ Somebody speaking this way has never understood the substance of any spiritual idea and religion and especially not of Christianity.
What you are brandishing is nothing else

+++ Chistianity is UNIVERSAL and oriented to an aim in human history, forward looking.
It is NOT about your Mesopotamian national local idols and idol worshipping cults with the obsesssion with carnal decent.

+++ You are still going in your old Assyrian/Babylonian circles like someone who has missed and fallen out of the human progressive evolution.
Just that I meant by "5000+ years of degeneration".
