I think you misunderstood me or recall a conversation with a different person. I never said the Jews I was "working with" wouldn't accept the spelling change. (Besides, I'm not working with any "Jews", I've always worked alone on this translation!)

I said that the English spelling "Peshitta" has been used for over 400 years - all the English encyclopedias and dictionaries spell it that way. Therefore, it would be more recognized if I continued that convention.

But I do retain the original spelling in Aramaic. (which looks nothing like, let me assure you, "pisheeta!")
