: So then what do WE do?
+++What we should have done after the Vietnam War...or when we found out Johnson lied to get us into a war. We have to protest this loudly the next time an election is stolen...we have to demand this loudly NOW that we want hearings into 9/11...we want hearings about Enron and WorldFuck...and the oil bidness...and Halliburton and Harken and Jeb and a whole slew of things. THESE are the things that have accumulated until this diversion became necessary...like Clinton ordering strikes because Monica and he got busted.
The war is a sideshow...by all means let us stop the thing...but just realize that nothing essential will have changed if that's as far as this goes...we just kept from making another horrendous blunder...that doesn't make us any wiser or better off...and if it workd. if the distraction succeeds...then we've shown them what to do the next time...and we can't afford too many more "next times".
The most powerful empires in the world have all collapsed...they always will because when you cut people to the bone deeply enough...they will FINALLY rise up...but at what a tremendous cost. THAT's what we want to avoid...not any concern about a Bush Empire...that would fall of its own eventually...but there's a serious danger of really pissing people off...people in other countries who will finally have nothing to lose...or gain...but they'll at least hurt others as they go down. It's happening a little in Palestine...it could get much worse.
Nothing stays the same...it either moves in one direction...or another. But which one do we want? We know what Bush and Halliburton et.al. want.
