xxx I certainly DON'T mean to trivialize their suffering by saying it's exactly like a reality TV show, but, I do mean to say that it's being portrayed here by the media as if it was some sort of "drama" played out by actors. We have the "good" guys, we have the "bad" guys, & in TV land, nothing really bad happens to the actors in the end. In fact, they get awards for playing good roles in films or on TV.
BUT IT'S REAL FOR IRAQIS. They will suffer, they will die, they won't get stupid awards for acting out the parts of suffering people because they are not acting, & this is not a stupid scripted film or soap opera.
How many Americans think the rest of the world is some sort of Disneyland, inhabited by "cute" little natives who are willing to die for our fucking entertainment??? How many pieces of shit assholes sitting around drinking beer & talking all macho during their football games about chicks they shat on that weekend (&, you know, those "chicks" seem to love it when they get shat on) & about going to war against another, virtually helpless nation of suffering men, women, & children as if it was another pathetic sport to be watched on TV? The fact that those subjects - chicks, sports, & war - could even be glibly addressed in the same fucking beer-stinking breath makes me sick to my stomach.
Or how many women are so willing to let their asshole men tell them what to think, they just sort of passively accept whatever stupid nonsense about war Bush & his crew dish out & those men accept because he's a man & because we can't change his mind, why bother? It STILL happens!
Or even a friendly conversation - all those times anyone spoke so glibly to you about war, like it was a fucking Sunday afternoon picnic, & you just decide not to say anything because you don't want to be confrontational - that's wrong!
This society makes me so fucking sick to my stomach!!! Are we such a bunch of pansies that any rich jackass can tell us it's OK to wipe out another country & he just gets AWAY with it???
How can anyone go out to eat at a restaurant, or even have an appetite, knowing that we're practically cannibals here in the States - feeding off the remains of other people, even our own poor!?!
