Had lunch with a member of the UN's Australia branch last week. Told him about the AAS and what we do. Also told him about my recent trip to Iraq and the fears of the coming war.
He was very open and also against the US led war. He asked what they could do to help our people in North Iraq.
Told him about a recent Radiothon in which we'd raised a couple of thousand dollars in 15 minutes for an Eemrgency Relief Funfd.

I asked if he could possibly organise for medicine, tents, blankets and other emergency supplies could be organised for our people in Iraq. He told me that they'd done this before for east Timor and would be glad to help us do the same for our people in Iraq. We came to an agreement that if they could fill a container with these supplies then we (AAS-Australia) would also mee them halfway and pay to shop the container to Iraq hopefully before this war starts.

Doc Sankho and I hope to present this proposal to them during their next meeting.

Wish us luck.
