: Well, about what you said regarding the way people looked at you four, do you think it is because you live in the south, where people might be more "ignorant". Up north, at least where I lived in New York, they would not have thought that was odd. In fact, it is common to see such interracial mingling in New York. I guess some people just need to get out of the box every once in a while...
xxx Well, my friend only said that when it was just the 2 of us doing stuff together. & sometimes I wondered if she was just a bit paranoid or if those looks she saw were really there. I've lived all my life in the South, & really, most of my friends here are Asian, African-American, "white" or Native American "mixes." & actually, here in Nashville, we have the largest population of Kurds in the States... & Birmingham is not segregated at all... so I think perhaps she'd encountered a bit of racism in her past & was a bit more paranoid about it than I was. But maybe she really was seeing things correctly... I'll never know.
