: Among the dumbest things I have EVER read. Are
: you losing your mind, Peter?

Vivian, the only thing I am losing is my patience with your duplicitous statements. You have told me repeatedly that you are a devout Christian. Okay, LIVE that statement and follow it to its logical conclusion: Christianity is the better religion. If you don't accept that then go convert to something else.

I am amazed at how disconnected you seem to be from your professed convictions.

: By your zeal for Assyria, I would venture to
: guess that if you were born a Muslim you
: would be a suicide bomber type...or at least
: a trainer for them.

Silly statement.

My spiritual life is none of your business. How I define my relationship to a higher power is also none of your business. How I reconcile my spirituality with every day life is also none of your business. And I am beginning to see just what an offensive person you are.

I will not follow your stupid logic. If you had any true faith, other than your sick and twisted approach to everything, you would see what Christian teaches.

You have no faith or spirituality and you seem to want to drag people down with you. Isn't it so difficult for you to learn to let individuals live as they wish to live? You are sickening me.

I won't be reading your posts anymore, Peter. So, don't expect any replies.

Real Change Always requires Sacrifice

In Response To: Re: Let Iraqis Exercise Free will (Peter BetBasoo)

I live on the same planet you do Peter, but I still respect your point of view, even though I don't agree with you on all the points. Let me see if I can expand on a few of the points. First of all, Christians in Iraq have suffered for their faith, but they were willing to, because their faith was sincere and genuine. If they had to choose between conversion and death, they would accept death, and many have. Now, if Assyrians were willing to bear their crosses, just as their Lord did, then any Moslem who truly desires to convert should be willing to do so, no matter what sacrifice is demanded. Didn't Christ say, "If you wish to follow me, take up your cross..." Should Moslems or anyone for that matter expect to do less?
No matter how you slice it, create any scenario you can imagine, the conversion of the Moslem world, will never happen without trauma, sacrifice and upheaval. You should ask, yourself, what planet you're living on. How could you possibly envision a peaceful conversion of the Moslem world? Do you realize what you are saying?
You said there are severe Muslim penalties for inter-faith marriages and conversion. Yes, I agree, but haven't there been severe penalties for Assyrians, living in the land which has always been their birthright, under the rule of these same people you wish to convert with an army of missionaries. And they will view it as an attack, albeit, a spiritual attack. Nothing you can imagine will arouse their anger more than that, and as our friend, Ben, has already pointed out, they will take it out on the closest Christians they can find. Do you want them to slaughter all of the Assyrians remaining in Iraq?

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Let's allow Iraq to recover from this latest trauma before we inflict another one upon it. Then let's see if a secular government will allow enough freedom so that some of the changes we are debating here can be implemented without violence. Give everyone a chance to at least catch their breath.

Peter,

TOLERANCE and a level playing field are fine as long as it comes from within Iraq and the culture isn't subjected to proselytization from a hypocritical, morally-degenerate, foreign culture. Also, Ben makes a good point in his post, below.

"Morally degenerate" is a bit melodramatic, no?

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

"Morally degenerate" people do not travel around the globe and put themselves in harms way by proselytizing and spreading the word of God.

: That is not a blanket description, but any

You judge a society by the pop and consumer culture portrayed in the mass media. This is not a fair judgement.

I did not disagree with some of the statements made, I just think they were overstated.

There IS a devil working in the American society, and he is in Hollywood. Do not judge the rest of America by what you see on television and Jerry Springer. I have traveled and worked across this country and I see the basic good that is in America, but it is in a constant struggle with an evil that is determined to stamp out Christianity from America and the world.

It's My Old Arch-Enemy Hyperbole Again!

In Response To: Re: To Call America a Godly Nation Would Be A Mock (Peter BetBasoo)

Your criticism is fair. I have used overstatement, but I'm still trying to correct that fault, which apparently has been hanging on to my fingertips as they tap on my keyboard. But I still believe that America's value system has contributed, in large part, to the resentment that a good part of the world has expressed toward us. And, America has many problems of its own which it ignores as it tramples across the globe telling everyone else how to live. This society has become a society where money rules the day. A society where money talks and everything and everyone else walks. If you have money, you can commit murder and get away with it. If you have money or money behind you, you can become President and dishonor your office and disgrace the nation. If you have money you can create filthy immoral movies and television programming and music to corrupt the youth of our nation. If you have money or power or both, you can create a pipeline of drugs and pornography to enslave the minds and bodies of our nation's people and then spread all of this to the rest of the world.

Yes, I do agree with you that there is a basic goodness in America, but it has to be reclaimed, because much has been lost due to the changes that have occurred in America for the last fifty years. Change is not easy, however, when the media is dominated by a liberal pseudo-intellegensia which stifles any dissent by those who wish to return to the values that this country was founded upon.

The only thing Liberals can find to criticize these days is imperfection, because it hurts them to give credit where credit is due. We can only strive for excellence, because we will never become perfect. The Conservatives, want to constantly pound on the Liberals, because they think they are better. They are no better or worse. They should let their example take the credit, but some of them want the credit for themselves.

You are correct in saying that America is engaged in a moral struggle within its own society today. This is where we should be spending our resources. It is far easier and less hypocritical to teach by example than to impose your values on others.
