These sanctions shouldn't have been placed in the first place. These sanctions were forced by the U.S. to minimize and to distrupt europeans corporation investments and benefits.

: back in the early days of the sanctions, its purpose was to pretty much remove saddam from power by weakening the country economically...obviously, that didn't work...
: the damn sanctions should have been lifted when the war began...(not to say they should not have ended earlier) this is ridiculous...i guess the US govt's slacking on the job with regards to the sanctions only confirms their real agenda for the Iraq invasion...complete control of the middle east, economically and culturally...
: i hear syria's next up to be bitchslapped with an embargo.
