: First, to topple Abu-Mazen as soon as possible. Mahmud Abbas had become the darling of George Bush, a welcome guest at the White House. The unique standing of Sharon in Washington was in danger. The pair Bush-Sharon, which was mutating into a single Busharon unit, was in danger of becoming a triangle: Bush-Sharon-Abbas. There is no greater danger to Sharon's plans.

xxx See the pro-Israeli lobby doesn't need to worry about Arafat cozying up to Bush anymore - Arafat's name has been smeared all over the U.S. media (via lies). So, they take down Abu-Mazen. Whenever you hear about the U.S. media wondering whether or not Bush Jr. will "make the same mistake as his father," the media is NOT talking about the U.S. economy - they are talking about the Israeli-Palestinian situation. Bush Sr., in 1991, witheld aid from Israel ($10 billion, I believe) & forced a Mid East Peace conference, one of the 1st for a long time. So, Bush Jr., with his Road Map, risks forcing a peace process on Israel, again. Conveniently, Bush was replaced by Clinton in 1992. Anyway, the pro-Israeli lobby wants the Mid East, including Iraq, to remain volatile.... Not that the Republicans are good - they just don't do everything the pro-Israeli lobby wants.
