Crimean war and its effects on Turkey. Simply, if Britain had not interfered, Turkey would be very much different today, and perhaps the war of independence would not even have taken place... Russia was defending Greek interests, France and Britain EU interests. They were afraid of Russian expansion, and so they backed the government of Turkey. Also, some things Russia did later were not to make Georgians happy. For istance, Crimea was given over to Ukraine.
