I'm not going to the convention, either, for a couple of reasons. #1, I really don't want to put myself in a subordinate position to Jackie or Nadia, by being there on "their" turf, having to play by their rules, etc. when they, esp. Jackie, treat so many people in the community like dirt.... #2, I won't get to meet either you, Farid, Tiglath, & some others (I'd like to meet ALL of you, & at the same time is optimal). #3, it's too much money to spend for only 2 days of "entertainment" (being a student & all).
Maybe I can see the monument, too, someday. Your recommendation makes me want to see it all the more. You know it would be neat to show it to a bunch of people (even just strangers), explain its meaning, & then say you know the artist personally & here's his take on the importance of the work....
