Muslims in Iraq, Syria, & probably parts of southeastern Turkey who are not Kurdish are at least partly ethnically Assyrian, as well.... The Christian Assyrians identify themselves as "Assyrian" for a variety of reasons, & this is something that would be too long & boring for me to go into, but that does not mean that the Muslims do not have the same or similar heritage as the Christians.... The Muslim Assyrians just don't label themselves that way. In fact, many Mid Eastern Christians I know call themselves "Arabs" or "Iraqis" even though they are not ethnically Arab - it's the only way that they can identify themselves to people here in the States because a lot of people in the States don't know about the different Mid Eastern Christians: Chaldean, Syriani, etc. or even the Maronites (who are from Lebanon), for that manner.
