Dear Eden,

I just wanted to drop you a quick note regarding your recent Op-ed piece in the New York Times. I think your explanation of the Martyr Complex is one of the keys to opening up the secret to our identity.
Many of us in Melbourne have for the past 3 years referred to the 7th August as Assyrian Remembrance Day and in Melbourne this year I insisted on calling it Assyrian-Chaldean Remembrance Day and not Martyrs Day before agreeing to join with a group who wished to commemorate the event.

I also believe that part of the problem lies in our misunderstanding of identity and nationalism Our people have a religiously-based identity and people with a religiously-based identity will tend to use religious words such as martyr but insist on being totally secular. We need to more openly debate our identity issue before we know what the future holds for our people in the Middle East.
I know I have my opinions on who we are, and where we should go to from here, but myself and many other Assyrian dissidents would love to hear from an expert in the field, such as yourself. So I'd like to take this opportunity to invite you attend Fred Parhad's forum a place where Assyrian dissidnets around the world have gathered to debate just such issues.

Please feel free top visit us at; http://www.fredparhad.com/fong and post your thoughts on the open and uncensored forum.

B'Sheyna,
