Lily--thanks for the websites. I checked some of them out and forwarded some of the more useful sites to Nina, Lina's cousin. I found a pdf file online of organizations in Canada that might be able to help--forwarded it too. The downer is that a lot of these organizations only help citizens, but still, they are worth contacting. Of course, Nina is in a better situation to talk to these people about Lina than anyone else...so she's got the info.
Mar Bawai's estimate for money gathered is about 5.5K btwn two churches (San Jose and San Fran--Church of the East). I hope they continue this effort through following the following weeks' masses...every little bit counts. I gave Mar Bawai the account/address info to forward the money after I asked Nina what would be the best.
Melody or anyone else: if you read this, do you know people from the Protestant and/or Catholic churches in the Bay Area that I can contact?
I'm waiting for some email addresses to contact other people around here..including the AAS. Let's hope they can help. I'll keep you folks posted.
Thanks for your encouraging words everyone. I, like you, just want to see Lina get through this with as little physical and financial pain as possible.
