: Stella,
: It has been my firm belief all along that it will be the left wing...the Israeli peace activists that solve this problem.

***Jeff, I completely agree. Not all Israelis are territory hungry Zionists. And not all American Jews support the state of Israel. There is a group here in CHicago called Not In My Name (www.notinmyname.org) that I've worked with a couple of times. It's a growing group American Jews who are opposed to the occupation. Check out the website.

: I always read about their rallies, even when Israel is preparing for more offensives. It must be difficult for them to fight for peace in such a hostile atmoshphere...even after losing family members.

***I can't even imagine how difficult it is for them. In the US, Not In My Name gets crap for their lectures, protests, and vigils in Chicago that oppose Israeli military action. They're not liked by most Jews here. I'm sure it's extremely difficult for the Israeli peace activists. It's so hard when one is raised with such pride and love of their nationality, and also with military training to protect this nationality...it's so hard for them to be objective when looking at their actions ethically.

: Just as in America when thousands demonstrated against the Vietnam war, the Israelis will demonstrate against the current unending cycles of violence... we can only hope.
