akh it sucked..i am using my time there for other things. i am learning about how to start a PAC, which Stella and I will work on when I get back...and i went to a Senate FOreign Relations Committee hearing on Thursday, which was interesting...
now i'm working on "coding" individual 2002 chicago area contributions for federal candidates...
every individual who contributes $$ amount over 250 has to list who got their money, the contributor's employer, and other information which is disclosed to the public by the FEC. Our group then takes those lists of contributors and determines which industry is represented by the donation dollars - telecommunications, health and medicine, defense, financial and investment services, etc. not all contributions represent an industry (someone working for walgreens can make a contribution that represents not the pharmacy industry but an ideology) but we have a methodology that determines which donations are ideologically-based and which aren't.
