Another small anecdote from that experience: when I met the lady who takes care of wild birds, I was a bit cautious - I asked to see her other birds. If the other birds did not look healthy, I would refuse to give up crow baby. Well, the other birds looked great - eagles, falcons, hawks, owls... & she showed me an owl she kept who wasn't physically injured like the other birds but was mentally retarded. You know how owls' heads do that funky rotating thing every once in a while? Well, this one did it *constantly*... looked like his/her head was going to screw off eventually. Poor thing! Just thought I'd share that... maybe you'd have to be there to see what I mean. It was hysterical!
