Our community(Assyrian)doesn't know how to feel anymore. We're not trained to think/to express our thoughts/opinions. Our people are
waiting for their church decrees on this matter.
: They are also doing this to cover up the sanctions. If we are too preoccupied with this build-up to "war" bullshit, we are not able to continue fighting for the lifting of the sanctions. Before Bush came into office, the sanctions were the focus of political debate regarding Iraq. With or without this "war," Bush et al. win, unless we put them on the defensive. They "win" either way by killing more people, of course - they win through this siege tactic (sanctions) &, if they can push it, they win by bombing. Of course, Saddam is predictable - they know how to play him... just as they know how to play anyone who shows *any* weakness (whether it be unresolved anger or sadness)... any willing or unwilling "Judas" among us. I'm not saying we have to get rid of Judases in our community, but we have to make them less likely to be Judases - we have to help these people to feel more inner peace. I sometimes wonder if there are people in our community who take their anger at their current lives out on Muslims - Muslims are a scapegoat for our community. But that doesn't solve anything at the level of the community or the individual.
