Americans are far too gullible and naive. It comes from believing in Good and Evil. Once you believe you are a Good Guy and the other guy is Evil...you assume that god is on your side...you see the world in simple colors, Black vs White...the Good Guys are in white etc. We are easily led by the nose...like my Russian friend said...Americans are the ones being brainwashed, in Russia they KNOW their government is lying to them...here we actually believe these Bozos...because we WANT to. It makes the world so much easier that way...like children we need to be flattered and petted and stroked.
The government here can be easily bought...that's the loophole we have to close. Our system is a great one...but Democracy depends not so much on a System...it depends on the quality of education its citizens receive...and ours is a dismal failure...though the same people who ride roughshod over us must be satisfied with it...I mean talk to your average American...watch commercials and TV programs and you understand how we can believe the things we do.
I think there will be increasing pressure from the world's poor. After 9/11, while the police and firemen were being touted as heroes...it was the Sanitation Department workers in New York who also performed an invaluable service...yes the grabagemen...because it was through their heroic efforts too that New York was spared a serious outbreak of disease. The microbes rule this planet, not presidents and kings.
When the people of France had enough, they toppled the King and all his ministers and his armies in a few days. Before that happens again...the People will simply refuse to play along...and we need even the lowliest ones to provide the pomp and circumstance. People, god bless 'em are the microbes that make things work...the little bugs!
