I need to 'splain things a bit more often...

These kinds of smear campaigns are geared toward the apolitical in this country... the politically disinterested housewives et al. who live for their daily soap operas. THIS is how propaganda works. The warmongers in the media hope to smear, in every way imaginable, Saddam, & in so doing, attempt to demonize an entire nation because of its leader & supposedly "justify" a war that will kill many innocents. There is more than one prong in a fork.
