: Okay. PanchMaster is right, I didn't answer your question. I'll try. Maybe it appears on the surface that I am automatically taking one side over the other, but in truth I am not. I am reacting to what I have perceived as a one-sided perspective from the liberal viewpoint. With regard to the Israeli-Palestinian issue: I try not to focus on each historical event in the dispute to the exclusion of the big picture and the actual sequence of events that has led up to the present situation. I believe that I can present a better argument for Israel than I can for the Palestinians, but I would still prefer that they could work out their differences and live in peace with each other. Also, for whatever it is worth, I apologize for my initial post, it wasn't meant to be personal, therefore I retract what I said.
The Israeli "claim" to the land is Bibilical. The Palestinians, on the other hand, lived there for thousands of years. The Jews needed a homeland after the holocaust, YES, and they were entitled to one... but it's one thing to peacefully coexist or emigrate to Israel/Palestine, and quite another to displace a million people and kill tens of thousands more.
So, that's my point in a nutshell. Yes, the Palestinians deserve the live there, and Yes, the Jews deserve to live there, but NOT in an apartheid, Nazi-like state... no no no.
Am I making any sense? Obviously you can see that I haven't taken one side over another. I take the side of common sense, which seems to be in short supply over there.
