The problem is that after deposing Saddam, whoever has the most men & military toys on his religion's side is going to be strongest, & all pacts will be forgotten. There will be a Saddam II, & civil wars to keep him there. The people of Iraq are not able to fight a second tyrannt right now. So, a few strong factions will be fighting each other making the rest of the population's lives miserable... just like those warlords in Afghanistan.

& then there's the cost of all that damage...

Afghanistan & Iraq will become like Columbia, w/ US trained militant groups fighting groups of armed insurgents. War on drugs, war on terror - same thing, slightly different excuses...

My Columbian friend hates both the paramilitary troops & the leftist guerrillas. All the fighting & kidnapping makes life incredibly miserable for the rest of the population.
