I'm not about to let Bushcroft or Peter the Vapid make "Iraq" a dirty word. I'm as sorry as i can be that the United States chose to suppiort, arm, and ignore the crimes of a man like Saddam...as sorry as I am that the Christian West has been meddling and robbing the people of the MidEast for some time now.
But I'm not going to let anyone make the name of the country that today comprises the Assyrian Heartland into a dirty word to be spoken of disparagingly...I wouldn't allow anyone to make "Jew" into a dirty word either...I'd help make "White Man" into a scronfull remark...but just to get even a little and for fun...
Iraq is Uruk is Assyria, Babylonia and all the rest of us. Governments of the United States have committed horrible acts of genocide, lynchings, Jim Crow, denial of basic Human Rights against its own citizens including its women. These things happen, they happen to everyone everywhere...BUT it is far more damaging that this enlightened country enjoying the intellectual wealth of the world would act this way...far more disturbing and shocking than that the tyrants of recently liberated countries too weak to defend themselves and only just beginning to overcome a tradition of one man strong arm rule would do so.
Therefore...there is a lot to hope from the people of Iraq...and NONE of it originates in this country...except indofar as what the people there freely choose for themselves...and it's the United States that opresses them the most...not Saddam.
Put that in your hookah and smoke it.
