Not Tony...he meant well. We're so afraid of being noticed or displeasing anyone that we easily believe anything we're told we must do to avoid controversy. Life IS controversy...no way around it...especially if you're going to claim any sort of Assyrian Heritage. I work for what I believe in and stand up for it because absent any better ideas...I know better what my work needs...and art curators in two major American cities agree and we work well together. The trouble starts when bank tellers and taxi driving engineers forget themselves...you may indeed be able to lead Assyria and write letters to presidents and serve rubber chickens with no qualifications at all...but you can't make sculpture too on that basis...and you have no business telling me mine...if I was that mealy louthed I never would have set out on this journey in the first place.
No ill will towards Tony at all...he believed what he'd heard...that I was "trouble"...I am...but only to all the people who deserve to have trouble made for them...have half the trouble shoved down their throats and the rest up their arses...to meet in the middle. The "mean" is a good place to be.
