...you`re living in scary times? I don`t mean crime or even Commies and Terrorists..how do you know when your own neighborhood and country or even family is going through the first stages of a catastrophic change? And how can you possibly warn anyone...and what can you do?

Say you had a time machine, travelled forward in 1969 and saw that 55,000 young Americans would die for nothing, leaving behind devastated families and impacting their generation far beyond their numbers would indicate...how do you go back and warn people? Can you tell the parents of those patriotic people to beware? Would there be any point to warning the politicians..when they all knew exactly what they were doing..that there was no threat from a Soviet Union that could barely manufacture one car and hadn`t enough butter or hot dogs to feed the people...also that there had been no attack in the Gulf of Tonkin...like there was no "surprise" that Muslim extremists attacked America.

It`s that classic Hitchcock moment..a lone person who knows disaster is coming...but no one believes it..only he or she and we, the audience..and we want to yell at the screen, WAKE UP!!! LISTEN!!!

How did Hertzl know something wicked was coming? More than the usual pogrom...something way beyond that...something that scared him so much he quit his job as a reporter in Paris and went to Russia and anywhere else in Europe where Jews lived in ghettos and warned them..told them to look for a way out..to escape what was surely coming. In his case it wasn`t that much of a stretch...Jews knew what he was talking about..the only question was the degreee of Christian violence they`d have to suffer. And then mostly only Jews from the Eastern European countries paid any attention and that because they`d sufferd more in recent memory.

Obviously Vietnam wasn`t enough of a warning. Many Americans are now convinced they won that war. They didn`t. They lost badly...actually, considering the relative power and resources, they got whupped...and it caused enough damage at home too. It`s only been some 25 years...time again to raise another generation...raise them and poorly educate them and get them ready to go fight their country`s lies.

Maybe it`s the degree of the outrageousness..something extra...far more than you`d expect ordinarily. The blatant hatred in the Drefuss case as well as the official injustice and illegality brought to bear on one Jew...scared Hertzl.

I feel the same way when my country declares an acceptable policy that leads to the death of 5000 innocent children a month..with the reason given that this will encourage their parents to rise up against what we labeled the most cruel monster since Hitler...when did parents rise up against Hitler..and is that really the way we want to conduct policy..is there no better way than to kill children? Or is that the new and improved better way?

Something wicked this way comes..it isn`t ending..it`s barely begun.

Kill god before he kills you.
