On the 7th of November they'll be gathering to eat well for Assyria. Narsai first said they'd do it right after Thanksgiving...which I said was a dumb idea. He must have figured out for himself that it was a dumb idea.

There wouldn't have been time to cast anything by the 7th anyway...but I wouldn't have given anything for the "poor Christians of Iraq"...the ones we made sure to blind and starve and maim...so we can all gather and send them some "help". The sheer idiocy not to mention the callousness and sarcasm of it would boggle anyone else's mind...but we're safe...we have no minds to boggle. Makes perfect sense to us...we tried to kill as many as we could.., what are we supposed to do with those who survived? Ignore their plight? What do you think we are....Muslims? Hell NO! We're Christians...we know Christ really meant, "MAKE the children suffer"...and now it's just the Christian thing to do...put a better roof back for the one blew off. And just how did Majdolin get out of Iraq and into the United States anyway? Who pulled the strings? How do you get into America under these conditions? Don't tell me...a Christian organization...one that replaces roofs, wants to replace eyes...right?

I'll do anything he wants or Jackie wants to help Majdolin...and to help bring along a generation of Assyrians in THIS country...so maybe one day we'll stop the bombs from leaving American soil in the first place...not just send band-aids after them when they're gone. That's what these "leaders" of ours do now. There was no way Narsai or Jackie or Golani or Nimrod or Anna Eshoo even would have said anything or cautioned restraint. It took a courageous Black woman to speak out on behalf of Majdolin and her children... Representative Barbara Lee of Oakland, California, the only one in the House...in ALL the government who refused to rush America to slaughter. As it was another Black, Muhammad Ali who spoke out against the Vietnam Slaughter.

I'm as ashamed of Narsai as I can be...pissed at myself for coming back from Europe...from hurting Brian, refusing his offers of a studio in Geneva or Paris or the coast of Portugal and his financial backing because I wanted to be "loyal" to an Assyrian. I'm not pissed at him because of it...isn't his fault. Of all the people I saw, Narsai seemed the best material to make a civilized Art Patron from...something we need badly. Turned out Helen Nimrod was the real thing. She's the only one who supported and gave with an open hand...expected nothing in return...just wanted to see the work get done. And she had to be the one to die...leaving us with these dime-store oportunists we're so happy with becausde we're SO fucking low they look like something worthwhile.

It staggers the mind when you think how far we have to go just to get out of the hole we're in...and on top of that we're in that hole on our KNEES!

I'm wondering....years ago Narsai left the Assyrian community because someone insulted friends he'd brought to join an Assyrian club in San Francisco. I know none of these leaders would take a cut in pay "for Assyria"...I know they wouldn't suffer a minute "for Assyria". It's a passtime...a hobby and it has to give them a lot more than they put into it or it just doesn't make "sense" to them.

I took all kinds of crap and abuse and my income was ruined by these people...and the saddest of all was that the trust I'd taken 20 years to build up...the kind of trust that got three Assyrians to give a total of $18,000 for three maquettes of Hammurabi when I didn't even know what it would look like and not a one of them was Chaldean or lived in Detroit...to give me the money because they trusted me where they won't give Jackie or Nimrod or Narsai ten cents...was ruined. That hurts the most. But at least we can see that Assyrians will trust and believe and give generously....all that's missing is worthy people with good ideas.

I wonder how much Narsai is willing to take? How steadfast and determined is he when it comes to "Assyria"? If anyone can find out...it's yoors trooli. Either we're for real...or we just pack it in now. Is Narsai for real...can he withstand scrutiny and "abuse"...even truth-telling...even criticism and challenge...or do you have to keep silent and hold him up...so he'll keep "working" for Assyria? I wonder...
