It's 3:30...everyoe left alive on this hill is asleep. I'm taking a break from the vase. Richie Valens is sweetly singing. He died way too young...17, in a plane crash that took the genius who started it all... the man simply called, "The Music"...Buddy Holley. Valens is mst remembered for his song, "La Bamba"...which has got to be one the hardest songs in the world to sit still through. I've heard the disc several times but only just realized the significance of a song in there about a Turkish girl waiting for someone in a Turkish town by the sea.

Valens lived in a suburb of Los Angeles called Paconia...I think. This would have been in 1953 or so. He was Mexican-American...a promising rock and roller...where did he get a song about a Turkish girl and how did it get onto a rock and roll album?

That made me wonder if there could have been a rock song about an Assyrian girl waiting in Nineveh all this time. Of course there could have been...but then of course not. Anyone writing such a song...for rock and roll("Keepa oo Pertl", to be exact) would have been crucified by is own people, like that last great pop genius Jesus was.

It's funny how we dislike people who brag about putting up monuments, for instance, but then brag ourselves about how many of us got killed "uncomplainingly" and ow little we've been able to achieve because "They" wouldn't let us. It is braging, after all...just a different sort...about another kind of achievement. What do the BooHoos and Aprims and Hajjars do but brag? Day and night and year in and year out they never tire of detailing the list of their "achievements" for the heritage...which amount to being chased from here to there crapping martyrs and fervent prayers and diclarations "even while we ran"!!!

What's Jackie's "Martyr Festival and Champagne Brunch" but one long advert for herself using a bunch of dead people as the ocassion to gather and toast her achievements...and hear her brag about it. What's Narsai doing but bragging to us about his contacts, the people he knows who will come out and eat a meal for him...and Assyria. But which Assyria? A proud and noble hard working Assyria on its own...or a bunch of shivering refugess made so by American policy as supported by Narsai (though he'll deny it now) and now to be "ameliorated"...also by Narsai. Isn't that bragging?

We have no problem at all...no qualms about bragging about how many of our cildren were skewered and run through and raped and pilaged and left destitute...in fact we enjoy it so much we can't get enough..and given the chance will make certain that things remain the way they need to be so we'll have even more to brag abut later.

And while on the subject of music I'd like to go on record as saying we have the most atrocious music videos I've ever seen or have ever existed anywhere. Every single fucking one of them has three components that vary only slightly every 200 years. The first is a featured and expensive German or Bavarian car. You have to have one of those or there'd be no love to sing about. The next thing you need is a walking advertisement for dipilitories...hair removal...either before or after, dressed in what can only be described as spray paint. A fright wig the size of Texas is optional. And of course, no video of ours would be complete witout a cross-eyed singer. I don't know why they have to be cross-eyed...if it's genetic with our singers...comes attached to the nose and voice gene...or it's the effort that comes of holding down a day job and singing at midnight.

Only one...only one really inspired voice we've managed to produce and he happens to be drop-dead gorgeous too is Ashur Bet-Sarguis. We deserve all the rest of them...but Ashur was wasted on us.
