this is from beth. I don`t trust these people any longer. I`ve seen enough of their sneaky ways to accuse them of creating "news" themselves...like my cousin`s letter.

I have completed the documentary film "THE LAST ASSYRIANS" , produced by Lieurac Productions.
This 52-minute film was shot on location in Ur, Babylon, Baghdad, Mosul, Alqosh, Dohuk, South-East Turkey, Syria, Europe, and the United States.

...He couldn`t very well title it "The ONLY Assyrians". There is something odd in this "LAST" business...it`s their way of saying "we are it"...if they die out that is the END of Assyrians and their heritage I suppose...pure nonsense..they`re still trying to claim there can be NO other Assyrian anything that is´`t Christian first and foremost.

It narrates the lives of today's Aramean/Syriac-speaking Christians who call themselves Assyrians, Syriacs and Chaldeans.

...I never bothered with the fine distinctions these denominations of Judo/Christianity get hard-ons over but I suspect the core of their arguments lies in this sentence...and is the whole point of the post and the film...if there is indeed such a film.

They claims that they are the descendants of ancient Mesopotamia. Accused of a religious heresy,

...now that`s interesting. It`s good he calls it a "claim" to begin with. But when he says they were accused of a "religious heresey" he tells more than he knows. If you were a heretic back then you could be killed...exiled, your children taken to be "saved" and of course your property confiscated...or you could be jailed for life or sent packing. So, who was doing this to them...Muslims? Or other Christians??? Is just possible that the only people who ever persecuted our boys were other Christians?

the film explains that these Christians moved to China and Mongolia to spread their newly-found religion at the time of the Arabic Empire 'Golden Age'.

...it makes perfect sense why they did so...they couldn`t bear to see their own people convert over to Muhammad and so they went looking to convert someone else. The fact that Christianity was never any great shakes in either of those countries shows you what happens when missionaries aren`t backed up by an army.

In the 20th Century they were victims of two massacres in 1915 and 1933.
They left their homelands(Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria) to come to Europe and the United States.

...in the 20th century they got stuck between warring factions in which their European co-religionists, the ones who sent missionaries among them to "convert" Christians to Christianity...unilatterally attacked a Muslim Empire in which both they and the Jews had found refuge for centuries and their religious fervor made them suspect...as happened in Democratic America years later when the Japanese attacked Peral Harbor and all American nationals of suspicious eyelids were packed off to jail...these things happen...regrettable, but they happen...nothing odd or unprecedented in it. Let ALL nations cut it out and I`ll be right there with the rest of them.

"The Last Assyrians" describes the current conditions of the Assyrians in Iraq (religion, Aramean schools, ADM, ...).

...inother words this is a a sloppy propaganda film that didn`t merit all those years of hard work that is implied but only took that long because of the bullshit they had to wade through, in the garage basement they used as their "studios".

It touches upon the challenges facing these people as they begin to sort out their religious and ethnical / national identities affected by centuries of suffering in the East.

...they have not suffered for centuries in the MidEast...they have lived and done just fine thank you...assholes like you who want to win one for Christ and made too much of an issue of how everybody elses house was on YOUR national land got what they would have gotten anywhere...Tariq Aziz, Dr Donny George and many others too numerous to count, including my father who as a Christian became director of the Health Department in Muslim Kuwait...did just fine...no one killed as many Iraq children as other Christians..at their Crusades again.

...Native Americans who have actual treaties signed by Congress still in their possession promising them a fraction of the land that was once all theirs and in recent memery too, got killed and jailed when they pressed their claims a little too loudly...and you want to come with YOUR "prooves" demanding anything???

Very few film have presented the complete history of these Eastern Christians, deeply involved in the actual situation of Iraq (I filmed before and after the arrival of American Army in Iraq).

And neither does your`s..if it exists. This is the usual game you all play with each other...to see who is REALER than the rest...as you were doing to each other and ruining the neighborhood and keeping people awake hundreds of years ago before the Arabs shut you up so the rest of Iraq could get some rest.

I am sure that lot of people would like to discover this history.

...It isn`t history...it`s your own personal hysteria. You actually think people are going to be moved by it...if it exists? After five years in discovering the life of Assyrians, I support their work to save the Identity of your People.

...they are doing no such thing..they are trying to force the ridiculous notion that only Christians are true Assyrians...which is absurd. You are of one dismal sect still making war on the other dismal sects. Save WHAT identity? Are you mad?

...you can bet if such a film existed he`d be pushing you all to send $9.99 for it...and there would be a few scenes or stills included in his post.
