On the anniversary of the bombing of Iraq, a continuation of the 13 year war on Iraq, which claimed 500,000 Assyrian childrenīs lives alone...one third the number of Jewish children killed by German Christians during the Second World War, it would be good to review words such as “Extremist” and “Terrorist”. Anyone killing a civilian is a Terrorist...anyone urging him to do it is an Extremist. Let soldier kill soldier. When soldier kills civilian he or she is the Terrorist and any civilian fighting back against the odds...is a human being. More than this clouds a simple issue: That Money People are making war on people. This is our new century.

I am an Assyrian, born in Iraq. Iraq is the modern nation that includes "BetNahrain", The Land Between the Rivers Tigres and Euphrates, Mesopotamia to the Greeks...also known as the Cradle of Civilization and for good reason. It would dizzy the imagination to list all of the brilliant cultures that originated or took root there...from the dawn of history with the Sumerians, through the Babylonians, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Medes and finally the Great Islamic Empire which drew heavily from all of them and spread the mantle of their combined cultures to cover Europe and The New World.

The record of Western Christian Wars launched agsinst those lands since the First Crusade is a long and bloody one and it continues today. My homeland is being torn apart because of the wealth in oil it holds and in complete disregard for all the Cultural wealth its people gave the world. Aside from a crime against Humanity, it is a shame...a deep tragic shame.

Extremism knows no bounds...we have Christians every bit as mad for their particular version of god as we have Muslims...and politicnas and buisinesspeople on both sides eager to fan the flames into a general conflagration...more money in the long run in every way.

My own people are divided in their religious loyalties between Islam and Christianity with Islam the dominant religion for the last 1300 years and each has a faction willing to see the land destroyed rather than ever reach a compromise. But only the Christian faction has among it a group willing to sell the country out to its enemies. God has been deadly to my country because, as Ibn Saud said...”In a political war you can compromise, in a religious war you have to kill everybody” And that is the despicable position of both Christian and Muslim extremists today and we have to fight against it for all our sakes.

Among our people we have a small fraction that hides its desire to have the United States seek vengeance againt Muslims behind the Assyrian name. They will tell you that Muslim Assyrians have always hated and abused Christian Assyrians and provide a long list of supposed Muslim crimes against Christians...only they will label them “Assyrians” to make their point more historical and disguise the religious extremism thatīs behind it. These same people will refuse to believe or mention any instance of a Christian killing a Muslim...as they reject United Nation figures of 500,000 murdered Assyrian children because they died as a result of Western Christian Sanctions.

This “inbred” and supposedly intractable animosity between Muslim Assyrians and their Christian counterparts is not true as any number of Assyrians, both Muslim and Christian have worked and thrived in Iraq, both in government and the private sector. The Christian organizations making these claims, who have no real following anywhere, are a religious faction urged on by their clergy to demand they be given “back” their ancient homelands. They are nothing more than our own Christian Extremists using the noble Assyrian name to gain a victory for their version of Christianity by claiming Islam attacked and stole Assyrian lands in 700 AD and that any Muslim in that region today is a "usurping Arab", though they can spell neither.

What they want is a Christian enclave and to further abuse the good name of the Assyrian Heritage for their own narrow, extremist agenda. They know full well they would be targeted by the sea of Muslims who, according to their own report, are a vicious and murderous people hell-bent on wiping out Christianity... and expect to receive the same protection and compensation from the United States as Israel does...making their little fortunes for them.

It is the responsibility of every person of goodwill who would seek peace for all to expose this fraud so that a world which may at first feel sympathetic due to its ignorance and the amounts of tears these people shed and the lies they concoct, will be better informed. All the people of modern Iraq and several in neighboring countrties are descended from the Assyrians and the rest of the people who lived in that region for over 6000 years. These Christian extremists claim to be the only descendants because they converted to Christianity...whereas their brothers and sisters cannot be Assyrian because they converted to Islam. It is as pointless and as barbarous an argument as any that has been used to get brother to kill sister over god.

The people of Iraq are one. They are merely divided by religion and though the overwhelmning majority of us live and cooperate with each other...there is a small extremist faction on both sides who will do anything to bring about wholesale misery and destruction in hopes of a "Final Solution". And when have we heard that term used before?

Our people must not allow themselves to be used by the Christian West which has its own policy objectives and will not rush to set up a tiny Christian state filled with religious extremists in a sea of furious Muslims...not unless it wants another Palestine on its hands..and maybe it does. We consider these Christian organizations "agents provacateurs" ready to provide whatever pretext the West might need one day...though it doesnīt seem that anyone bothers being sly any longer.

The people of Iraq are all descended from the ancient people of BetNahrain. Letīs hope we come together based on our common Humanity and shared needs for peace and justice and goodwill . Let us refuse to be torn into exterme factions and forced to take sides. We are one.
