"The church is generally respected by the predominantly Muslim population and continues to provide food, medicines and emergency supplies to people regardless of religion, he said.

"We have decided to continue our work. We love our country," he said.

Many of the supplies come from foreign Catholic aid organizations such as Catholic Relief Services, the U.S. bishops' overseas relief and development agency, the archbishop said.

Among the services provided by the Basra Archdiocese are a pharmacy that offers free prescription drugs, a kindergarten that provides breakfast to children, and financial support for orphans or children whose parents have no jobs, said the archbishop."

...all well and good...however as the church and anyone else touts the bandages and soup they bring to Iraq, making it appear that Iraq was somehow in need of this kind of "help" all along...what people are forgetting is that Iraq NEVER needed these hand outs before...the people never needed foreign Welfare before...the country was wealthy, there were billions in reserves since stolen..there were fine universities, excellent health care, clinics, hositals, women were free to join every level of life...money was plentiful etc. They made a basket case and now want thanks for bringing some broth to the people THEY beggared.

Standard fare...this stuff fools Ameericans...it NEVER fools the people we do this to.
