Late on Wednesday afternoon, after finally subduing Mr. Yasiri, who at one point shouted, "Up to now I still don't know what I'm voting for," moderators tried to get back to the business of voting. But they were held up by yet another outburst, this one from a man belonging to the Chaldo-Assyrian minority.

"We Chaldo-Assyrians, we are Christians," he piped up, during a discussion on voting procedure. "We are known in Iraq for our honesty."

A woman then shouted, "This person is not speaking the truth! He does not represent the Chaldo-Assyrians."

The moderator, Waleed Shalt Agh, pleaded with them: "Chaldo-Assyrians, please - you have not been allowed to speak. Please respect the conference."
