Let me first say that in your two responses so far you`ve done us world`s of good already by showing what the word means...to moderate is to help clarify issues on EITHER side in order to facilitate debate until some consensus might be reached so that those listenning in will be in the position to decide the issue for thewmselves. That doesn`t make anyone RIGHT or WRONG...the function of a debate is not to WIN...it is to present issues clearly and conscisely so that people can decide for themselves with the best possible information available. We all know people try to sneak stuff in to sway the crowd..and this is what the moderator is for...thank you for highighting what THESE moderatrors do..which is to lead the lies...throw obstacles in front of the side they don`t make it abundantly clear they are rooting for and coming down heavily on the side of they want to win...they merely add an unfair advantage to one side while making it impossible for the other side to enjoy a similar advantage..that and allow their rules to be broken willy nilly if it will help their side win.

I wanted to comment on this:

You both have made your points. David may be low on his estimate, and maybe a thousand were killed. Or he may be high on his estimate and only these 17 who we have names of were killed. Or, just maybe the true number is somewhere in between. Does it matter in the end?

Instead of bickering about numbers, let's concentrate on how to prevent it in the future.

...I agree that discussing numbers is in iteslf a good mark of the entire point being lost...as for instance one doesn`t need to know how many TIMES Aprim was fucked in the head...once was clearly enough.

..As far as the issue being prevention of future atrocities...I don`t think we can even begin to determine what to do until we clear up what made us blind in THIS case. Our contention is that we`re discussing numbers at all because the other side insists on refusing to see the larger issue...which is: does it matter if a Christian Assyrian is killed by a Muslim or another Christian. The reason this is important is because we think we see in this bias of reporting and wailing and weeping, a determined effort to GET people killed.

That is to send Christians to Iraq filled with hatred and lies so they may do their dirt...and so determined are the boys to get Muslim Assyrians killed that they would risk ANY harm to their own people...whom the American soldiers can`t tell from Adam and don`t particularly feel like discriminating between....that and the fact that if you make war on people holding your people hostage...you will get them killed moe than likely.

It is because we believe the boys INTENTIONALLY look the other way and don`t want to be seen as critical of Americans when they kill us, because it hurts their agenda..which is to GET Americans to beat Iraq...they rush to tell us of every singoe Christian by Muslims...this makes us suspect that their motives are exactly what they are...to place Islam in the worst light they can so that the only people who even appear to be serving their agenda and strtegy interests, The Americans, will continue satisfying the narrow Christian agenda of the boys...which is: Get as many people killed and ruin it for ALL if they can`t get their way...else why would they be shy about including ALL our murdered and ALL their murderers?

...seems to me that before we can "prevent" such actions in the future, we have to see how they are subtley and slyly promulgated in the first place by US..what responsibility WE bear...when our boys and their leaders publicly thank the United States for engaging in random acts of violence that have the result of killing ALL of our people and not JUST those we wish killed. When we join in the chorus too ludly...and make a POINT of being heard to say it over and over...one has to wonder if the goal isn`t to inflame passions among Muslims who see themselves lumped into one negative group...who then feel justified into lumping our own Christians with the ones doing the active killing...whom they can`t get at as easily as they can Christian substitutes whom we too often mark out for them..as if we WANTED Christians killed. I see no other reason for their refusal for over a year to even mention Majdolin Younan`s two murdered children, or condemn the American Christian murderers.

That comes first, I think.

Shlame,
