Farid, It’s funny how hypocritical your reasoning can be. First you criticize European countries for their barbarism (and rightly so). You criticize the US for actions in Iraq. But then, inconsistently, you rave about the ancient Assyrian empire without realizing (maybe you do, but don’t mention) that ancient Assyria was the equivalent of a modern day superpower such as the US is today. It also thrived on its many military conquests and unprovoked acts of war against its neighbors. Ancient Assyria also committed countless atrocities you should be against if you were fair and equitable in your arguments when you rail against other nations when caught doing similar acts. You also favor the ancient Assyrian deity "Ashur" (which is certainly your right as a citizen of a western democratic nation such as the USA) while pointing out the apparent negative aspects of Yahweh. You make it seem that Ashur was a benevolent god when in reality he was known as the "god of war" and "lord of death" depicted with a bow and arrow. Don’t you realize that whole ancient communities (including women and children) were savagely murdered in the name of Ashur? This is basic, secular near east history. As far as Christianity is concerned, I agree with you on some points. I agree with you that Christianity in the west has blood on its hands. Western, imperial, European Christianity is often no better than the ancient empires you seem to favor. However, history declares that Christianity in the East was a grass roots movement that thrived without the benefit of a military machine or even national support. It won the hearts and minds of individuals beginning in Judea then Bet Nahrain, Persia, central Asia and eastwards to even Japan without one bow and arrow without one sward, spear or bullet. Whole nations did accept the faith without coercion. Look at Osroene and Armenia for example. Before Roman empire lifted a spear, the citizens and monarchs of these kingdoms embraced Meshikhayootah wholeheartedly and peacefully. History testifies to these facts. -Dean parhad wrote: >Paul Younan wrote: >>>..I wouldn't say your god won you any battles... >> >>I'd say He has. There are less synagogues than there might have been had you Christians not murdered the people and burned their synnagogues. These millions and millions of Christians were raped into Jesus...the countless Catholics of Latin America never chose Christ...it was Him or death...the same in Africa...and in Europe the Romans took their Imperial Roman religion and converted people by force...nowhere on earth did any culture or nation willingly trash their own culture and religion and language to become Christian...if that's the way the game is played..then you win...no one else wanted to use murder as a way of winning people over to "peace" > >...when you Christians took Jerusalem from Islam you killed every Muslim man woman and child and all the Jews were herded into their main synagogue, men women and children and burned alive...contrast this when Khalid, the Sword of Islam, took it back...he invited the Patriarch to return..who'd run away fearing Muslims were built like Christians...and toured the city as his host and promised that all Christians and their shrines would be protected and invited Jews and Christians back to the holy city...the Ottoman Empire was the ONLY nation to dare attempt giving Jew and Christian the autonomy to run their own affairs..it is easy to have "peace" when you kill all those who are different... > >You people well may have had even MORE Christains had you not killed so many yourselves, more than anyone else ever did...but apprently not even your dominance made you back off from blood, for when there were no Muslims or Jews or Hawaiins around to kill...Christianity turned on itself and the greatest bloodbath the world has ever seen sapped the people and resources of Europe and the home of Christendom until people finally had enough and locked you people up..as In Mexico the Reviolution stripped the church of all its ill gotten gains. > >...If this is your idea of a religion of Love and peace...then we know why you are on your second Holocaust and Genocide in less than a century. >> >>Your "Ashur" has not one temple dedicated to him ANYWHERE - not even in the ruins of the city named after him. > >...it's in the heart. >> >>Only a fool like you would fail to realize that Yahweh WON....and Ashur LOST. He especially lost the faith of his OWN people, whom he was powerless to help while Nineveh burned. > >...not at all...Rome was sacked and burned several times..as was Nineveh and every city the world has ever known..people get tired..it is unrealistic to expect them to maintain an empire indefinitely...the empire of Christ is one of violence and chicanery and unbelieveable cruelty...and it won't last either. >> >>Come again. > >...I've always been here...you come and go. --------------------- |
