Hi Jeff,

"Quela" is a type of glue made when they boiled the skins of animals in the olden days. It became a brown-looking gelatin substance, and very sticky. In the mountains, this is how they made glue.

When somebody is called "Quela de kalba" or "Quela de khmara", it is an insulting term meaning they are not even a dog or a donkey, but the boiled remains (or, glue) of that animal.

Idiomatically, of course, it is an insult. =)

ps - keep in mind when "Quela de" is pronounced fast, it sounds like "Quelat". The Daleth proclitic "de" is of course the Aramaic for "of".
