There are several pressure points at which they could make themselves felt..it`s nice of them to treat the victims we make..but that machinery is soon going to be self-propelling...with a role for them AND Marines..they`ll go hand and hand all over the world doing what they started in Iraq...that`s what`s wrong here..we`re normalizing something that used to be reserved for natural disasters..with good hearted citizens rushing in with food and blankets...we are going to make the American Military intoi a NATURAL disaster and see as "good" sending in blankets for those whose houses we blow apart. > >xxx No they aren't. The 2 Iraqi guys are citizens of Iraq, not the U.S. They are helping to set up clinics for other Iraqi citizens like themselves. They/their opinions don't count for jack shit in the eyes of the U.S. government, so what pressure point can they make themselves felt at, BESIDES going against the U.S. government's wishes (providing medicines and food during the sanctions, setting up clinics to help people out during and after the invasion). ...we don`t know who kidnapped them..I was talking about foreigners..if Iraqi citizens are being kidnapped, then I would assume it`s because they are working with the same America that`s bringing the war. I don`t know if they would kidnap Iraqis helping Iraqis who have NO ties to America. The contractors America sent aren`t building roads..they are hired private killers...it`s very likely they are behind this..I don`t know..I don`t the aid workers harmed..I just think it`s better if all foreigners leave Iraq..if then only onmes that can be forced out are foreign missionaries..because I think that`s what these people are..not necessarily religious...but in the same vein...it isn`t as if there isn`t poverty and hunger in America...this rush to help ameliorate the hooro that America is doing to Iraqis is suspect to ME. Something isn`t right about it..it smacks of the same attitude thta believes we have the answers for other people`s lives in different ways..we have branch offices that fuck you over..and we`ll keep those going and expand them...we also have branch offices that wash you after...WE have nno business doing EITHER..and THAT should be OUR responsibility....not picking up the pieces we break... > >xxx Here's another way to look at it. Say Ralph Nader was kidnapped in the States - wouldn't you want his kidnappers to let him go? Or is it OK for him to be murdered just to make a statement because, ONLY because he is a U.S. citizen, he's part of..."the system," "the problem"? ...now you`re beginning to sound like Paul...I`m perfectly capable of following the discussion at hand..I don`t need to be shown examples like I was stupid...what I`m saying is very veery simple...get ALL foreigners out of Iraq...starting with ANY that can be gotten rid of in ANY way...I would personally prefer if no one killed anyone..but as it`s happening and was brought by America...I can understand the urge to kill ALL Americas..when Americnas feel they can kill ANY Muslim...I don`t want the aid workers harmed...I recognize their desire to help Itaqis..I just think this is the kind of help the country needs..not now and not from these people. --------------------- |
