The U.S. government dislikes VitW for breaking the Iraqi sanctions & hence also dislikes any group that's affiliated with them (which is the reason Kathy Kelly, co-founder of VitW, is in prison). It might even be the occupation forces who've kidnapped these humanitarian workers. ..that is definitely a possibility...same with all the civillians blown up...look at what Moore was able to eventually achieve by oputing Bush as havign gone AWOL....he caught the heat for it..so did anyone ssociated with him..and the denials started flying from Bush and his people..then a lawsuit...and finally the "discovery" of the damning truth...This aims at the heart of what`s wrong in Iraq and stands the greatest chance of ending Bush`s war. If not for that..and if Bush or his clones come to power, you could have several Iraqs with all sorts of calls going out for good and decent and brave and dedicated people to come help all the additional victims we`d have..and forever..in fact we could help the children of victims and then their grandchildren..helping people is heady stuff..it is personally gratifying...while it helps victims I`m afraid it gives too much of a rush to the helpers..and in THIS circumstance more than normal..it is a BAD precedent..no matter who kidnapped them..they should leave and bend their considerable energies to helping poor Americans and fighting like hell to dump Bush and beyond. > >Anyway, today I'm in a grumpy and terse mood. Please don't take it personally. I'd direct this mood at Paul if I had any patience right now. Dealing with idiots takes a lot of patience.... ..no, no..never personal..I understand your sympathies and I share them..but I`m not letting myself off the hook that easily..I refuse to see a Bright Spot in what these wonderful people are doing..to me it`s giving in...like setting up aid stations at Auschwitz. The same with votinng for the lesser of two evils..as we`re constantly tolds to do..I don`t LESSER evil to have to be my choice...nader is right, the proble is SYSTEMIC..it isn`t a question of which party any longer, they`ve BOTH been bushwhacked. --------------------- |
