could you please explain to us why being a Pagan is wrong? There are almost as many gods ruling from the heavens around the world today as there were way back before Christianity and even Judaism.

What was so awful those people did...the Assyrians and Persians and Babylonians and Egyptians and Greeks who gave us our civilization and left behind such powerful and abundant evidence of their brilliance and decency? And remember to address all the horrible crimes committed, as well as the lack of any corresponding great achievemenst culturally, since the world became Monotheistic.

And please give a thought to the fact that while multiple gods still exist and will always, unless one religion manages to kill and convert everyone else on the planet..(we won't mention the religion that's gotten such a head start in that direction)..what the IDEA of Monotheism gave the world was the permission to kill the "evil" or just plain "wrong" believers in a god besides your own...I mean there are still several gods...as there were before..but before no one thought their god must be the ONLY one or else...and that this was the real gift of the founders of Christianity...murderous intolerance.

I understand you believe your religion has a marvellous prize for everyone who believes and plays along...but obviously people the world over have been rejecting it for 2000 years in favor of their own...so that if you remove the reward your religion holds out...what real benefits has a BELIEF in that reward brought us in the last 2000 years...how is the world a BETTER place for Monotheism...your brand especially?

This confirmed Pagan would like an honest and complete answer...please try to be thoughtful and not merely jingoistic. I am not asking for a lecture...just your take on the benefits of Monotheism verses the glories of Paganism...and please, don't pick the worst example you can of Pagans...and I won't focus on the worst examples of Monotheism...let's act as if we were intelligent and curious and not merely as if we were recruiting officers for one or the other.

And your Dean is welcome to join in...if he deigns to waste another second with us Darkies.
