I'll never forget how a younger Chaldean priest once brought to my attention that "the Assyrians have a GAY AND LESBIAN web page" (he was referring to the web page that brilliant Emil Keliane set up)...and he emphasized GAY AND LESBIAN as if to evoke a response. I stared at him blankly and said "What? You don't think there are gay Chaldeans and Assyrians?" I think maybe he was expecting me to laugh or react negatively/angrily to the possibility.
