We have been handed a copy of the article entitled “The Hood, The Bad &The Holy” published by you, on the internet, in the above issue of Zinda Magazine. That publication contains a number of imputations of and concerning our clients which are seriously defamatory. The publication says of Suzy David, amongst other things, that she was one of the main architects of the biggest financial swindle against the Assyrian community in modern history. It says of Fred David, amongst other things, that he was “in on” that swindle. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our clients had no knowledge of the swindle and were themselves victims of the large scale fraud perpetrated on the Assyrian community by Karl Suleman and his company, Karl Suleman Enterprizes Pty Limited. PAGE 2: Publication of the defamatory material has and will continue to cause substantial harm to the reputation and feelings of our clients, including the professional reputation of Suzy and Fred David, as Solicitors of the Supreme Court of NSW. We are instructed to commence legal proceedings against you for damages and other relief, including legal costs. Before those proceedings are commenced, we are instructed and hereby demand that you forthwith take all necessary steps to remove the offending article from the internet and agree to publish an unqualified retraction and apology in a form that is satisfactory to our clients. If you do not meet that demand by noon (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on Monday, 24 January, 2005, proceedings will be commenced without further notice.
