Let's be realistic here.

Some Chaldeans view the Chaldean culture as an identity that is entirely religious.

Other Chaldeans (and I think this group is growing), see our people as a cultural or ethnic group.

The $25 million dollar country club will soon have a cultural center, which will not highlight Kurdish and Arab achievements, but Assyrian/Chaldean/Whatnot doodles... ok?

I'd say Chaldeans, right now, are more powerful as a business community than as an ethnic/cultural and/or as a religious community. Trust me.

The governor of Michigan doesn't meet with a group of Chaldeans because they are Chaldean. She meets with them because they are all owners of their own small (and medium and large), successful businesses. The fact that our food is out of this world doesn't hurt, either.

At a recent function, I watched her assistants take several trays of the food back to the capital with them... ;-)

And while we are on the subject... would an Assyrian restaurant be full of traitors and AGENTS if they served Hommous and Tappouleh? Come on. Are Chaldeans doing something wrong for cooking the best damn food in the world at their restaurants? SO what if Shawarma is an "Arab" dish...we make it better than everyone! So what if hommous and tappouleh (sorry, I can't bring myself to write or say HUMMICE and TABOOLEE like the Americans do) are "Arab" appetizers?

So there!

...and just when you thought I was done...

I met a delightful Assyro-Chaldeén from France at the last convention that I went to...he told me that over 50 years ago, the Assyro-Chaldeénes there agreed to put the "name" non-issue aside and unite through the hyphenated term...and they are a much much stronger community because of it. They are thriving there. And good for them!

Just lovely. the Assyrians were usually alone in this regard, now the other pastorals have joined the party. This doesnt mean anything will get done, however. You think you can do better than the Assyrians in your ASSpirations? AHHH PEASE! You are all the same, puppets. We see who your spokesman is... the historian/bishop who is leading the way, the way the Assyrians went as they became hillbillies in their towns. so now, are you willing to take off the RAGS from your head and become a Chaldeen? (whatever a chaldeen is) No worries, in a short time, you will substitute your newly found ChalDEEN gear for the Kurdish one. I wish you people luck in your quest..to..no..where...
