Dear Dalale, Since the Assyrian language has two dialects,eastern known amongst the public as(suret) and western known amongst the public as(suryoyo). You're writing as if we are three different people??? The western Assyrians who ethnically identify themselves as Assyrians are proud of it and it shows through their actions whether in Sweden or any other european country. As for the great Assyrian singer Habib Mousa I would like to remind you that when he started to sing he sang in the eastern dialect and being born in Syria like many Assyrians he speaks both dialects perfectly.Later on Mr Mousa began to sing in the western dialect also.Some of his best and old songs he sang in the eastern dialect and are today considered classics and gems of the Assyrian music because he used the traditional instruments rather than the western ones which are influencing our music today. Who is forcing what on whom ??? Assyrian singers who are singing in both dialects are the ones who are able to be more popular within all the segments of the Assyrian people,and the one singer who can be credited with that is Juliana Jendo who sang the western Assyrian dialect (suryoyo) with such an excellence that some don't even know that she is an eastern Assyrian. I don't know why do we have to make music a political affair as well!!! There are always those who would be narrow minded wherever you go whether they call themselves,Assyrians,Suryoyeh,or Chaldeans. --------------------- |
