...I was wondering what happened to it...I assume you're refering to the head of Ashurbanipal, a duplicate casting from the monument in San Francisco that was stolen as a prank a couple of years ago and promptly returned.....they also have a head of the Shumirum....don't know why they haven't put them up...or in the case of the Ashurbanipal why they didn't return it to its pedestal in the administration building...are you telling us that someone actually complained because it was the head of a terrorist???

As far as our Jackie's and the rest...as it's been for years now, there is NO standard in our community...we are expected to applaud the person who does things from the "Heart"...that's nice and all well and good but you don't want an unqualified surgeon who has a lot of "heart" as a substitute for actual skill and knowledge operating on your child...we ourselves show how little we think of ourselves and our heritage when we allow these people to get up there JUST because they have the spare time or have a lot of "heart". What we fail to see is the amount of dwarfed ego riding high on the idea that they are the direct KIN of Ashurbanipal...the way they present it to us and the world there isn't a damn thing EASIER than being Assyrian...well I say NUTS to that noise.

I got so many people pissed at me precisely because I raised the bar for what used to pass for Assyrian contemporary art as well as things Assyrian ingeneral....it got a lot tougher to pass the usual stuff off...and the prices went a LOT higher. Raising the standards at all means the Jackies and Narsais have to work that much harder to keep up and they don't like that. I had my dimwitted cousin Robert deKelaita, a lawyer, tell me that he and others were going to work with REAL artists from now on....I know what he meant..he meant the dweebs who will be appropriately grateful for having made a sale and will fawn all over the people buying their stuff...Narsai too expects artists to behave pretty much like the dishwashers he's used to barking at...thankful for their hire.

The whole thing is ass ended...the people who make their money in sow bellies and chitlings want to DECIDE the Art as well...they feel insulted if they only get to pay and own the stuff...fuck 'em.

One Assyrian asked me once what he and his rich friends could do to "help" me...like did I need an advisory committee or some suggestions or maybe a sounding board? I honestly thought for a second and replied, "no...just buy". And that's the truth of it...let US decide what we will make..you don't want it, FINE....FIRE us or don't hire us to begin with but DO NOT try to control the product...you only ruin it for the both of us.

There! I fell better.
