You have me singing, and thinking of songs, with all this talk about music. I used to want to be a singer when I was a little girl, and a few Assyrian writers told me they would write songs for me, but I stopped dreaming that dream long ago. Then again I had a million dreams as I was growing up. Now I just sing around the house. Who knows though, if anyone would like to write me some songs in ancient assyrian/akkadian/Sumerian, and then give them an ancient melody ..I might try it.

Anyway, you guys transcribe way better then me.

Another thing Jeff, maybe you will disagree with me, but there are better versions of the Ahela Yoni song. Sargon Gabriel sings it better, with that deep voice of his??? Nonetheless Ashur is great also. The old songs are my favorite. Like the old shera songs. Hoyyy zareee zareee zareee lele zareeeeee…. ......

There are some songs I know somewhat, but I have no clue who the original singer is. Who sings these songs?

(1) Qa qul kha brona ptamrin ana chul dana.
Hawit sharira pkhubokh
Min bratid da zona
La hoya al deyanokh tre tla khabrane
Ganwale libokh sipya
Be ayno kharshane
Bratid daha zona
Mletela el tera
Khamitla ow garwisetla
In prishla le dera

Qa qul kha brata ptamrin ana chul dana
Khoba dla sale slota litle hich dana
etc etc.....

(2) In the dialect of Alqosh...

Khzeli khta yowna befyara
M3oyetlee ow kreleee bkha kala
Giani maritaaa
Bas mafhimleee ow bas maytheli
Lema athre wot bezala
Offff, giani marita ...

Some good songs.

Juliana Jindo
Warde Dishe e.g Eman manshiyanee Atriii ega atii manshiyanokh. (That was my favorite line)

Biba
Sapar Chewan (I think we are all "tulkin nishan")
Qurbe Min Aynate (he must have really loved her!)

Ashur Sargis
Ya Sara (an tre nahrawate bigraya shine, oh nishret Ashur.... etc)
Ahela Yoni (Bilati ….what I name an Assyrian soul dance because it’s not your body moving, but your soul moving your body...)
Rosh ya Jwanqa (Roshhhhhhh Roshhhhhh is Ashur's favorite part of that song...)

Habib Mousa
(1)Nineweh Nineweh>>>>>Ninweh Ninweh oh Ninwehhh la la la la, min hilyewin al lanye la la la la, athel boli oh shahreee way yome halye shafye....great singer, great song)

(2)Shlomeh Shlomeh Al A'Shafireh

Linda George
A lot of her songs are nice. One old one I like is where she is singing for the bride and the groom that are entering the wedding. Qumon ya raqdane, qomon ya khizmane bariya ow beriyo rqodon ya riqdana, beriya ow beriyo rqodon ya khizmane. ..

(2) I also like that Jaloo ya rawilnaya song...ya gabara ninwayaa...etc.. Anyway a lot of her songs, anything that sounds old. I’m not into the new type of Assyrian music.

Evin Agassi
Habaniya ....... u know... Blele ayne cheemeli Mosul, Arbil khizyeli, yomanit Tkhume ow Kirkuk, Alqosh, Tyare thkhereli!
