Thanks for your support, Tiglath. I wrote that article knowing what the reaction would be, and knowing I would be crucified by some, (pun) but I didn't care. It was time we dismantle the myths. I have lived a good life. I have looked deep within my soul, and I have never seen any difference in one human being from another, ever. Thanks to my parents.

I will never forget the images I still have in my head from fours years ago. I went to Baghdad as a last thought, really. I was going on a Middle Eastern tour, and figured how can I go all the way there and not go to Iraq? Not see my cousins? not to face the horror what this world had done to the Iraqis? When my friends heard I was going to enter Iraq inspite of the sanctions, they kept dropping money off at my parent's house, for me to take and distribute "equally" to the Iraqis. They literally said to me, "we don't care who you give it to, Muslim or Assyrian". I was truly inspired. Then my doctor friends collected all the medicine I could fit in two big bags and off I went. I was carrying so much money with me, that I had to go to the bank and deposit it every time I arrived in a new city.

Here's what I cannot forget: The ride from Jordan to Baghdad took 16 hours through the desert. Why? because my taxi driver kept asking me if I would mind if we stop for a prayer. I watched this man get out of the car, wash himself clean, spread a rug on the dirt, and begin to pray, to kneel, to beg god to hear him, to forgive him, to bless him. I was truly humbled to see such devotion, such ritual repeated every few hours, tireless, unrelenting, and unwavering in himself, and in his faith.
