...I think it's safe to say that most people just want to live, work, eat, sleep, and raise a family without being harassed and killed...without too much interference from government, gangs, and what not.

Iraq was never a threat to the American people. In the 70s, it may have been a threat to American corporations who saw wealth and prosperity without this capitalist aristocracy... but in all other senses (military, political, etc.) it was no threat. Iraqi people don't want to take over the world...hell, they have never even fought wars with their neighbors with the exception of the Iran-Iraq war, which we can safely say was instigated by the US, and Kuwait...a whole different issue...

Now I'm rambling.
