Aramean is the perfect example of one who can express ideas just fine even with poor English language skills...you can understand and see that he knows his stuff...just as it's plain as day that Aprim is a flim flam artist...who shakes and bakes any language to sell his peculiar take on his place in history...this is a good post....by which I mean it quietly shuts Aprim up...no doubt several messages will be sent in the night to REMOOOVES THIS TRAITOR!!! The sign above Assria too would read, "Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here".

Fred, this tell me how little you know about history, culture and languages.

The People of Greater Syria, Iraq were speaking either Siryani or Arabic or a combination of both at the time when Islam appeared. The article by his Holiness the Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church eloquently stated that clearly. Arabic was not a stranger to the people of the area.

If you cannot seee why the Siryani Christians in Turkey speak Arabic and why the Moslim Turks and Kurds hate Arabic then you need to go to Class 101 before you peddle yourself as an expert on the topic. The Siryani Christians in Turkey held onto Arabic because they consider it their native language, they used it interchangeably with Aramaic until our modern days. They resisted 700 years of Turkification. While on the other hand the Kurds and the Turks are instructed by their faith that Arabic is a holy language but they still hate the language, they resisted learning it and they call it the language of oppression. The same thing applies the Persians who have great hostility towards Arabic and they do any thing possible to prevenet even the 8 million Arabs in Iran if using Arabic as a first language.

This shows you how this myth of Umma you are talking about only exists in your head. If there was such a thing as an Islamic Umma the who of Turkey, Iran and the Kurd will be Arabic speaking.

The people of Greater Syria were not forced into Arabic language being them Moslim or Christian. They are mainly semitic people and Arabic their natural language. The Syrian Church in Atioch (Antakia) adopted the Arabic language almost 16-20 years before Arabic became the official language of the Ummayyad's Empire. The Byzantine imposed Greek language on Syria both on the Church and on the administrative apsects of government. As his Holiness the Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church stated the people of Syria celebrated the oppression of the Byzantine and were kicking out Greek and taking their Native Language in this case Arabic. The peopel of Syria were Speaking Arabic and writing Arab poetry at the time when the religion of Islam appeared. The Siryani Poet Al-Akhtal who is a master in Arabic poetry spoke both Arabic and Aramaic and wrote poetry in his native language and prayed to his God in Aramaic.

If there is any one Hulicinated about this topic it is you because you been reading Ben's Website and I have a feeling you started to correspond to the Genocidal theory that there are no Christian Arabs, His Holiness the Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church stated clearly that this is not the case and pseudo-writers who think they are fooling us with their lies must stop in their tracks.

As to north Africa, the natives are still natives. The Berber still have their language, they only learn Arabic as much as an American Indian in Turlock needs to learn English to get job. The Sudanese Languages and the Somali and Eriterian languages still lives side by side with Arabic.

Arabic was and will not be able to replace these non-semitic languages under any circumstances. There will always be native Sudani, native Berber and Native Somali but these people learn Arabic as mucg as the Native Americans need English to get a long with life or as much as the Native South American need Spanish to survive.

The only exception that is perplexing to Linguists and Historian a like is the disappearance of the Coptic language. This is a scholarly subject and should be studied by people who know their ware well. The only non-semitic language that was over-taken fully by Arabic is the Egyptian language. Even though the Coptic Church survived and to an extent prospred against all the odds. There are almost 10-15 million Copts in Egypt who are fully Arabized. I believe scholars have not explained why Moslim Berber held on his native language while he had the spirtual incentives to fully adopt Arabic while a Christian Copt fully abandoned the Egyptian language in favor of Arabic. Could it be the similarities between the bilblical dialect of Aramic and Modern Arabic that enticed the Copts to adopt Arabic for their sermons?
