Jeff, since you like The Ashur Drama Group here’s a little something from Jimmy Khnanisho. He’s been performing in the Assyrian community for close to thirty years. Remember the owner of the Hooka lounge in “Poetic Emancipation”? That’s him! “You got it”!!! He used to do this skit back in the eighties. “Zamara Odisho” a singer from Baghdad who comes to the states to make it “bigtime”. Odisho would sample English songs and convert them into Assyrian with hilarious results. Man, Jimmy was way ahead of time… he created the no talent music sampler before P-Diddy came out. I’m going off memory here. Jimmy Khnanisho as Zamara Odisho singing “I love you”. I love youuu I love youuuuu I love youuuuuuu I wanna take you to mucdonols I wanna take you to mucdonols, mucdonols, mucdonols We buy eh two big a macs With no onion, sap nashki (because they’ll kiss) Two small eh bebsi Two small eh bebsi I love youuu I love youuuuu I love youuuuuuu I swear a gaaat Get down on it Hosh, hosh, hosh Get down on it Hosh, hosh, hosh This next song is also Jimmy’s. The beginning is similar to thw way Arabians begin their songs. I don’t know what them crazy Arabs call it. Mawal??? I call it “Shoost yous in da foot”. Mawall Kheena le ragdin minakh Akh ragdinwa minakh gamta Ana kheena le ragdin minakh. La, le ragdin akh ragdinwa minakh gamta Akher, hadiya in ragdikh Bit dashat el akli Hal bit deshat el akli Ana e charchirin akhhh Mrili, ayeee ayeee ayeee End mawall I never gonna dance again Guilll-ity peelings got no ribdum I love this stuff. I hope it comes back. Great times! --------------------- |
